How will the result of the November election affect the transportation industry, charging infrastructure, federal incentives, and efficiency mandates? 


Smart transportation policies intended to increase the adoption of smart transportation have historically included legislated tax breaks, fleet acquisition incentives, manufacturing incentives, and authorizations for research and development. We’ll examine what the future holds following the election.

Jeanette Shaw, Senior Director, Public Affairs and Policy

Jeanette serves as Forth’s Senior Director of Policy and develops transportation electrification and e-mobility legislative and regulatory policies. Jeanette holds an Executive MBA from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

U.S Senator Jeff Merkley

Jeff’s work in the Senate is a continuation of a lifetime of working to make Oregon and the world a better place.  During his term as Speaker of the Oregon House of Representatives, Jeff led a legislative session The Oregonian deemed one of “Oregon's most productive in a generation.” Under Jeff’s leadership, the state legislature increased education funding, expanded access to affordable prescription drugs, established domestic partnerships and a landmark civil rights law to protect LGBT Oregonians from discrimination, cracked down on predatory lending, and created Oregon’s first-ever rainy day fund.  Prior to running for office, Jeff ran several non-profits in Portland, including Portland Habitat for Humanity, which empowers low-income families through homeownership.

Edward McGlone, Director of Pacific Northwest Policy, US House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure

Edward is the policy lead on issues affecting the Pacific Northwest and the primary point of contact for local governments, state agencies, and private sector companies in the region. Edward also leads the Committee’s efforts to combat climate change and adapt the transportation sector. Edward brings more than a decade of experience in public policy and transportation, including work as a senior executive at public transit agencies on the west coast. An alumnus of Willamette University and a native Oregonian, Edward enjoys pinot noir, hoppy beers, and global travel.


Matthew Nelson, Director of Government Affairs, Electrify America

Matthew Nelson is the Director of Government Affairs for Electrify America. He previously served as the Chief of Staff in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE). Matthew also served as U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein’s Senior Policy Advisor for Energy, Transportation, and Climate Change for seven years



Rustam Kocher, EMG Ecosystem Infrastructure Lead, Daimler Trucks North America

Rustam Kocher is the Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) E-Mobility Ecosystem lead for utility engagement and leads the standardization effort for High-Power Charging for Commercial Vehicle (HPCCV ) CharIN Task Force. He is a firm believer that the electrification of transportation is an important step towards addressing global climate change.
